Frequently Asked Questions

Can a GP manage gestational diabetes in Malaysia?
Yes, GPs can diagnose and manage mild to moderate gestational diabetes with dietary counselling, glucose monitoring guidance, and medication if needed. For complex cases or when insulin is required, our doctors will coordinate referral to the obstetric diabetes team at Hospital Sultanah Aminah or a private specialist. Regular monitoring continues at Klinik Muhibbah.
What are the warning signs of pregnancy complications that need urgent attention?
Seek urgent care for severe headache with visual changes (pre-eclampsia warning), sudden swelling of face and hands, reduced or absent fetal movements, vaginal bleeding, leaking fluid, severe abdominal pain, or high fever. Walk in to Klinik Muhibbah immediately or proceed to hospital emergency if symptoms are severe.
Does Klinik Muhibbah monitor blood pressure in pregnancy?
Yes, blood pressure monitoring throughout pregnancy is a core part of our antenatal care. Pregnancy-induced hypertension affects around 10% of pregnancies and can progress to pre-eclampsia if undetected. Our doctors check blood pressure at every antenatal visit and arrange urgent referral if readings are elevated.
