Chest Pain — Clinic ECG or Call 999?

Chest pain frightens everyone — and guessing wrong is dangerous. This page explains when to call 999 / go to hospital emergency, and when a GP visit with ECG at Klinik Muhibbah may be reasonable for non-emergency assessment. Clinic ECG is not ER care.

Call 999 or go to hospital emergency NOW if

Crushing or pressure-like chest pain, pain spreading to arm/jaw/back, cold sweat, severe breathlessness, collapse, sudden weakness on one side, or pain with known heart disease that feels like prior heart attacks — do not drive yourself if unstable; call 999.

Klinik Muhibbah is a GP clinic with ECG capability. We are not a chest-pain unit, not a cath lab, and not open 24 hours. Waiting in a GP queue with a possible heart attack costs time you may not have.

If you are unsure and the pain is severe or worsening, choose emergency care. It is the safer error.

When a GP + ECG visit may be appropriate

Mild, brief, clearly musculoskeletal pain after lifting; stable reflux-type discomfort already evaluated before; or doctor-advised follow-up ECG for non-acute symptoms — these are examples where clinic assessment can help. The doctor may still redirect you to hospital after exam.

On-site ECG, blood pressure, and clinical exam help risk-stratify stable presentations. Abnormal or high-risk findings mean transfer/escalation — not “come back tomorrow.”

Hours for non-emergency visits: Mon–Thu & Sat 9AM–9PM, Fri 9AM–3PM, Sun 9AM–1PM.

After hospital discharge

We can help with medication review, BP follow-up and GP continuity after cardiac admission — bring discharge notes.
