Uric Acid & Gout Test in Johor Bahru

Ujian Asid Urik & Gout

Klinik Muhibbah offers uric acid blood testing for the diagnosis and monitoring of gout and hyperuricaemia. Gout is one of the most painful joint conditions and is increasingly common in Malaysia due to dietary habits. A simple blood test measures serum uric acid levels to confirm the diagnosis, guide urate-lowering therapy, and monitor treatment. Walk-in testing available with same-day or next-day results.

How to Prepare

📝

Fasting for 4–8 hours is recommended for the most accurate uric acid result. Drink water normally. Do not take allopurinol or uricosuric agents on the morning of the test if you are already on these medications — inform the doctor. Inform the doctor of any recent acute gout attack as uric acid may be temporarily lower during an acute flare.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a uric acid test cost at Klinik Muhibbah?
A serum uric acid test is available — please call for current pricing at Klinik Muhibbah. We offer walk-in testing with same-day or next-day results. This is one of the most affordable gout blood tests in the Johor Bahru area.
What uric acid level indicates gout?
Normal serum uric acid is below 360 µmol/L (6.0 mg/dL) for women and below 420 µmol/L (7.0 mg/dL) for men. Levels above these thresholds indicate hyperuricaemia. Gout is diagnosed clinically but high uric acid supports the diagnosis. Our doctors will interpret your result in the context of your symptoms.
What foods should I avoid if I have high uric acid?
Reduce consumption of organ meats, shellfish, red meat, and high-fructose foods. Limit alcohol, especially beer. Increase water intake to at least 2–3 litres daily. Our doctors can provide personalised dietary counselling alongside urate-lowering medication if needed.
